For signing up an account with PayPal all you need is a valid email address, a bank account/credit card to verify your identity and a PAN Card (if you are from India, as a guideline laid by RBI to track the foreign money flow).


How To Create An Account With PayPal?

  • Open PayPal’s Website and look for SignUp in the left sidebar.

    • Choose one among the three options (Personal, Premier & Business, the differences between these three could be learned over there) and click on Get Started (In this step by step tutorial we have decided to go with Personal, as it is the widely used choice (FYI you can always upgrade to Premier or Business versions at any point of time after you signup)).


      • In the this page, fill up all your personal details like email address, your complete name, date of birth, PAN Card details, mobile number and credit card information (if you have any, or just uncheck the check box before credit/debit card information) and click on “Agree and Create Account” (I highly recommend you to read the PayPal User Agreement).
      • In the next page the signup process will ask you for your credit/debit card information in order to verify your account (just in case if you have unchecked the checkbox in the earlier step), just avoid by clicking on “Go to My Account” (it can be found in the extreme left corner, just below the “Continue” button), check the following screenshot for better idea.

      • That’s it your are done with creation of PayPal ID and now you will require to verify your bank details and add a purpose code (In accordance with Indian regulations) to complete the signup process.

      How To Verify Your Unverified PayPal Account?

      First login to your PayPal account, If you haven’t verified earlier you should a notice 2 alert messages saying “In accordance with Indian regulations, you will need to add a bank account in India in order to receive payments and withdraw funds” and “In accordance with Indian regulations, you will need to add a purpose code in order to receive payments and withdraw funds”., here is the screenshot of the alert messages for your reference.



      • First click on Add Bank, in the next window enter the details like Name on account, Bank name, NEFT IFSC, account number, re-enter account number in the respective fields and click on Continue.

      • Next click on ‘Add a purpose code’, in the next window select the respective category of the field which you are related in the purpose code box and click on save.
      • That’s it your PayPal account should now become a verified account and now you can enjoy sending and receiving your payments.
