What is new in Windows 8
Windows 8 Operating System is the most advanced Windows operating system in the history of Windows family of Microsoft. It not only supports computers, but also works for tablets. Windows 8 is the official name for the next version of Microsoft Windows, a series of operating systems produced by Microsoft for use on personal computers, including home and business desktops, laptops, netbooks, tablet PCs, and media center PCs. According to unofficial sources, the release date for Windows 8has been set for October 2012, three years after the release of it’s predecessor, Windows 7Operating System. Windows 8's server counterpart,Windows Server 2012, is in development concurrently with Windows 8. The most recent officially released pre-release version is the Consumer Preview, which was released on February 29, 2012. An almost-complete Release Preview is scheduled for June 5, 2012. Some brilliant features have been added in Windows 8 operating system, such as Windows 8 Speech Recognition, Windows 8 Backup and restore, Windows 8 Partition Resize, etc. What’s more it supports touch feature very well.
Unlike Windows 7, which was intended to be a more focused, incremental upgrade to the Windows line, Windows 8 has been “reimagined from the chipset to the user experience” to connect more with the user. It features the Metro interface that is designed for touchscreen input similar to that in Windows Phone and on the Xbox 360. A version of Windows 8, called Windows RT, also adds support for the ARM processor architecture in addition to the previously supported microprocessors from Intel and AMD.
The hardware for Windows 8 requirements are:
  1. 1 GHz or faster processor
  2. 1 GB RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  3. 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  4. DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
WARNING : Make sure to create a Windows Vista/7 restore disc prior to installing Windows 8 otherwise your data will be lost if you wish to revert to a previous version of Windows.
